Rubén Valencia (México D.F., 1950), whom we consider a fundamental artist for contemporary Mexican art died in 1990.

For different reasons, among them the lack of research and documentation in Mexico, his work has slowly been forgotten.

As a modest homage, in 1990 we proposed a piece in which his friends would answer a the questions of an interview as they thought Rubén would respond. We considered that since he had done several conceptual pieces on issues of originality and fakes in art, this approach would be appropriate.

We had different answers which are in the version in Spanish, along with the questionnaire. We also include a full resume of Rubén's life and work and a list of the documents of his in the archive of Maris Bustamante.
