| Monumental Digital Art on Cotton Paper |
|
EMPA was one of the most ambitious projects undertaken by Pinto mi raya. Interested as we were in enlarging images and seeking for more aesthetic support for our work (papers and plastics which are generally used in photocopying are pretty ugly), we found Nash Editions, a workshop which specializes in printing digital art on artistic papers. We applied for and obtained a grant from the Proyectos y Coinversiones from the FONCA program in 1993 and we went to Manhattan Beach, Ca. to print the work in 1994. Each of us made a work integrated by twelve 90 x 120 centimeters panels which worked both independently and as one piece. EMPA was exhibited at the Mueseo Universitario del Chopo in October 1995 and later, without Humberto's work, it travel to South America and the Caribbean in an exhibition called Binomio: electrografía Mexican and was sponsored by the foreign Ministry. An integral part of these exhibitions from the beginning has been giving accompanying lectures in digital art.
