In 1991 Fernando Gallo and Maria Antonieta Marbán from Los Caprichos and us organized Projecto Mimesis, a digital art portfolio of prints made with Canon´s CLC500 color laser photocopying equipment which had recently arrived in Mexico. The project was sponsored by Canon Latinoamérica de México S.A. de C.V. We invited 25 artists to create two pieces using the photocopying equipment as a tool through the production process, as well as the edition of the prints. We made a limited edition which was mostly distributed among participating artists. One of the characteristics of Projecto Mimesis is that it includes a wide range of artists starting with older colleagues such as Gunther Gerzo, Manuel Felguérez, Sebastián and Carlos Jurado, including those from our generetation such as Carla Rippey, Gabriel Macotela, Maris Bustamante and Felipe Ehrenberg, all the way to younger ones such as César Martinez and Patricia Torres. The 50 works which integrated the portfolio and the process to male each one were exhibited at the Museo Nacional de la Estampa in México city, the Museo Jose Guadalupe Posada in Aguascaliente, the Angela Peralta theater in Mazatlán and over the years it has been presented in diferent sapace in México and abroad. Its part of several collections, among them the one of the Museo de Arte Moderno in México City and the Mueso Internacional de Electrografía in Cuenca, Spain. Mímesis Gallery
